Are you associated with Missouri State?

While we are not officially associated with Missouri State University™ we have been part of the campus community since 1964. Several of our employees are current Missouri State™ students or Alumni. We also support various clubs and organizations on campus.

Do you just carry Missouri State books?

In addition to Missouri State™ textbooks we stock books for Ozarks Technical Community College, Evangel University, Webster University and Forest Institute. We can also order books for other colleges and universities. If you need college supplies or Officially Licensed Missouri State™ apparel we have that as well.

How do I know I have the right books?

We receive the same list as the campus bookstore and do everything to ensure that your books are correct. If an instructor changes books or if you end up with the materials for a different section, you always have through the first two weeks to exchange them or receive a full refund.

Can I charge the books to my student account?

Unfortunately, we no not have a way to charge your student account. We do accept all major credit/debit cards, personal or business checks, traveler's checks, money orders or cash.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit/debit cards, personal or business checks, traveler's checks, money orders or cash. We can also accept Vocational Rehabilitation and OACAC.

Do you accept Financial Aid?

We can only handle Vocational Rehabilitation and OACAC directly at this time. Other types of financial aid will allow you to withdraw the money from your school account to purchase books and supplies elsewhere. The Financial Aid office in Carrington Hall room 101 will be able to answer any questions on how this works.

Do you match prices?

We do guarantee to have the best prices in town. If you find a lower price at another local bookstore we will match it. We cannot currently match prices from online retailers due to differences in services (i.e. refund policy, shipping costs, shipping time, etc.)

Do I have to reserve my books?

While we strongly suggest reserving your books as soon as you get your schedule, it is not required. By reserving early you have a better chance of receiving used books. Also, in the event of a price change, you will always get the lower price on your book. You can change or cancel a reservation up to the start of classes if needed.

When do I need to get my books?

While you do not have to get your books until you need them in your class, we strongly suggest reserving your books as soon as you get your schedule

I already reserved my books at Missouri State. Do I have to get them there?

Even if you already reserved your books at the Missouri State Baker Bookstore you can still shop around and save money. You can cancel your reservation at any time. In addition, the campus store will not charge your account for books you do not pick up.

What if I drop a class?

At Student Book Exchange you have through the first two weeks of class in the Fall and Spring semesters for a full refund. You don't need to show us a drop slip or have anything signed. Just bring back the books and the receipt and get your money back. New books must still be in new condition (no writing, shrink wrap intact, access codes unopened, etc) for a full refund.

Can I write in the book?

Writing and highlighting in the books is typically acceptable as long as it is not excessive. We do suggest that you write in pencil or erasable pen and highlight only key points not whole paragraphs (or pages).

What do I do with the book when I'm done?

When you are done with the book sell it back to us. While we buy books all year, the best prices are paid at the end of the semester right before finals.

How much do you pay back for books?

There are many factors that affect the buyback price of textbooks. Typically, we will pay back 1/2 of a new book price or 2/3 of a used price for books that are being used the following semester. If the book is not being used again we will pay the highest price listed on our national wholesale lists.
